Professor of Criminal Procedure Law at Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ) and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Brazil. He holds a PhD in Criminal Procedure Law from the University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil, and has conducted postdoctoral research in Democracy and Human Rights at the University of Coimbra (Portugal).

He is a lawyer specializing in white-collar criminal defense and has published several books and articles on Criminal Procedure Law. He was a Visiting Scholar at Boston University School of Law, United States, and a former member of the National Criminal and Penitentiary Policy Council (CNPCP) of the Ministry of Justice of Brazil.
