Full Professor of Law at the University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), where he is the co-director of the Center for German and Comparative Law Studies. He is currently vice-president of the International Association of Procedural Law and was co-editor of the books Contractualisation of Civil Litigation and Shaping Civil Litigation Using Procedural Agreements, among many other books and articles on the subject.

His main research areas are national and comparative procedural law, alternative dispute resolution and court administration.
